History

  • Since 1999 the GACC of Colorado and the German Cultural Foundation, have organized and sponsored the Denver Christkindl Market, bringing the cherished tradition of the German Christmas markets to Denver.
  • The initial start was small and only two full week-ends. It has grown from there to a full four week event, from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.

Events

  • In the Past, events at the Market have been sponsored by Denver International Airport, Denver Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, Distinguished Brands, Holland and Hart, Jeppeson, Kroenke Sports Enterprises, Lufthansa, Metro Brokers, RTD, The Courtyard by Marriott, The Oxford Hotel,  Wells Fargo, Xcel Energy, 9News, and the GACC of Colorado.
  • Sponsorship has included a live tree with lighting, stages for the performances, traditional St. Nick, children's corner, warming event tent, and the visit of the traditional Nuremberg Christkindl for the opening.
  • Our recent support, which brought us back to Downtown has been through the Downtown Denver Partnership and the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District.
  • We continue to grow in our new location and work closely with Denver City.

Vendors

  • In cozy, traditionally decorated wooden huts and trailers, vendors from Europe, Asia, Central America and the local area, have displayed their wares, providing European Fair, Flare and Fare.

Environment

  • The market mirrors the cozy atmosphere of the European markets with their sights, smells and sounds. This includes traditional music, and of course the foods and drinks which are affectionately associated with Germany; Brats, Schnitzel, roasted Almonds, Gingerbread, Stollen and Strudel (which are freshly baked on site), Beer and the warmly glowing Glühwein.
  • In the warming tent, Office and special Party events can be scheduled. We have a German atmosphere with smells and sounds to provide the Gemütlichkeit.
